MARGARET INGLES

 
(Bourbon County, 1892-1971) In 1920, Ingels became the first American woman to earn a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky in mechanical engineering, a field traditionally dominated by men. She went on to pioneer the development of air conditioning while working for Carrier Corporation.
